The essence of space 1 (Cityscapes)

This series of cityscape paintings is rooted in my emotional experience of space—how certain streets, buildings, or skylines become imbued with meaning through memory, presence, and personal connection. These are not simply views of a city; they are portraits of moments, of someone, or of someplace that holds quiet significance.

Each painting explores the way urban environments can act as containers for feeling. A particular corner might recall the presence of a person; a stretch of light or shadow across a building might echo a specific time or mood. I’m interested in how space becomes personal—how the architecture of a city holds traces of our inner lives, often without us realizing.

Rather than aiming for strict realism, I allow atmosphere and tone to guide the work. The shifting quality of light, the way space opens or closes, or how certain structures loom or recede—all are carefully composed to reflect a psychological or emotional landscape.

Ultimately, these paintings are about presence: the way a place stays with you because of who you were with, what you felt, or how it changed you. They are quiet meditations on the human imprint within the urban world.
