In this body of work, I revisit the classical tradition of still life through a contemporary lens—drawing and painting everyday objects to explore new ways of seeing the familiar. These pieces are quiet in subject, yet deliberate in intention. A cup, a cloth, a tool, or a piece of fruit becomes a moment of pause, reflection, and reconsideration.
I’m interested in the tension between the ordinary and the meaningful. By isolating and re-framing these objects, I invite the viewer to look more slowly, to notice form, shadow, texture, and space—elements that often go unnoticed in daily life. The act of drawing or painting becomes a way of onoring these overlooked things, and in doing so, finding beauty in restraint and simplicity.
While rooted in the still life tradition, these works are not nostalgic. Instead, they suggest a subtle shift—an updated language of quiet observation that reflects how we live now. In an age of speed and distraction, I see still life as an act of resistance: a chance to stop, look, and truly see.
